01

Overview

MAQ AIO: WhatsApp Chat Button (also referred to as “AIO Chat App,” the “App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) helps Shopify merchants add chat and contact options to their storefronts. Supported options may include WhatsApp, email, telephone calls, Facebook Messenger, Skype, LINE, WeChat, Snapchat, Telegram, and live chat.

This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, disclosed, and retained when a merchant installs or uses the App in connection with a Shopify-supported store. It also covers limited technical information that may be processed when a visitor interacts with the App on a merchant’s storefront.

Who is responsible for visitor data?

The Shopify merchant is generally responsible for personal information collected through their store. We process relevant information to provide the App and support the merchant, subject to applicable law and Shopify’s requirements.

02

Information we collect

Depending on how the App is installed and used, we may process the following categories of information:

App configuration data

Contact details, social or messaging account identifiers, display preferences, icon colours, welcome text, and other settings that a merchant chooses to enter in the App.

</>

Online Store access

Theme assets, theme settings, and script tags needed to add, display, update, or remove the App’s storefront widget. We access and modify only the elements reasonably required for the App to work.

Device and usage information

IP address, browser and device type, internet service provider, referring and exit pages, timestamps, and actions associated with using the App or interacting with its storefront widget.

Cookies and similar technologies

We may use cookies, log files, web beacons, tags, pixels, and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember settings, understand performance, prevent misuse, and diagnose technical issues. A cookie is a small data file placed on a device and may contain an anonymous unique identifier. You can learn more about cookies and how to manage them at allaboutcookies.org.

Your browser may allow you to block or delete cookies. Disabling some cookies may affect how certain App features function.

03

How we use information

We use information for the following purposes:

  • To install, authenticate, configure, and operate the App.
  • To display the contact and messaging options selected by the merchant.
  • To maintain the App’s connection with the merchant’s Shopify store and theme.
  • To provide customer support and respond to merchant requests.
  • To monitor reliability, troubleshoot errors, and improve performance.
  • To protect the App, merchants, visitors, and our systems against fraud, abuse, or security threats.
  • To comply with legal obligations, enforce our rights, and respond to lawful requests.

Where applicable, we rely on performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, compliance with legal obligations, or consent as the legal basis for processing.

04

How information is shared

We may share information only as reasonably necessary in these circumstances:

  • Shopify. Information is exchanged with Shopify to install, authenticate, bill, and operate the App within the Shopify platform.
  • Service providers. Trusted vendors may process information for hosting, infrastructure, security, analytics, or customer support, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
  • Messaging services selected by the user. When a visitor chooses a channel, relevant information may be sent to or opened in that third-party platform. That platform’s own privacy policy then applies.
  • Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information to comply with applicable law, regulation, subpoena, search warrant, court order, or another lawful request, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
  • Business changes. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of all or part of our business, subject to applicable law.

We do not sell personal information.

05

Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the App, maintain legitimate business and security records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and why it was collected.

When a merchant uninstalls the App, we delete or anonymize store information that is no longer needed in accordance with applicable law and Shopify’s required deletion process, except where limited information must be retained for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.
